Forbidden Fruit - by Claire Barber

Where am I now my world is lost
And look at just what it has cost
A sleep is offered I fear to take
In knowing that I am to wake
Do not cry at the site of my tears
For it's releasing my pain and healing my fears
And when your back is turned you will not know
That the pain inside is sure to show
I know this feeling I must stop
But if I start to cry I'll never stop
And it must be done to carry on
The past is not to face it is what has gone.
Now I must be the fruit on the tree
He cannot touch but only see
The gate is open it is not closed
I am now free and not opposed
And when one day he tries to pick the fruit upon the tree
It will have died and gone away,
Forever forbidden to thee.
